Reflecting on Our 6-Week Free Yoga Series at St. Louis Park Library
As I roll up my mat and look back on the past six weeks, I’m filled with gratitude and joy for the incredible journey we shared at the St. Louis Park Library. Hosting a free yoga series in such a welcoming community space was a dream come true, and I want to take a moment to reflect on this experience, celebrate our collective growth, and thank everyone who made it possible.
A Welcoming Space for All
From our very first class, the library’s bright community room became a sanctuary for movement, breath, and connection. Each week, new faces joined familiar ones, creating a diverse group of yogis-some brand new to yoga, others returning to their mats after a break, and a few seasoned practitioners eager to deepen their practice. The library’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement made it the perfect partner for this series.
What We Practiced
Over six weeks, we explored a variety of yoga practices designed to be accessible for all levels. We began with gentle flows and foundational poses, gradually building strength, flexibility, and confidence. Each session included breathing exercises and moments of mindful stillness, helping us all find a little more calm in our busy lives.
Some highlights included:
Learning the basics of sun salutations and how to modify them for different bodies
Exploring balance and stability through standing postures
Practicing guided relaxation and simple meditation techniques
Stories of Growth and Community
One of the most rewarding aspects of this series was witnessing the sense of community that blossomed among participants. I heard stories of people inviting friends, encouraging family members to join, and even practicing together outside of class. Several participants shared that the free series removed barriers for them to try yoga for the first time or return after a long hiatus.
